I meant to write you a congratulatory PM about the Dylan liner notes assignment. I may have to read the notes and skip the album, even as one who plays nice with devout Dylanistas. It's a goddamn impossible way of life!
As always, great to hear from you Elizabeth. But I have to say the description of the lamp is WWOP (worthless w/out pictures).
I will probably buy the Bob package and look forward to reading your notes but musically speaking what do we get that's not on *Before the Flood* (other than many, many more versions of the same songs)? The first night in NYC at MSG was one of the highest highlights of my music listening life. Compare and contrast "even the president of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked" with "the president may commit felonies with impunity." The latter just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I'd rather have a 27-disc Paranoid Style collection with liner notes by Bob. That, I would listen to.
What else would you listen to, Chris?
My second favorite Altman movie and Mr. Zevon? How am I now already all over this????
"Last Night in Chickentown" sounded amazing -- tight and crisp at a breakneck speed :-) Congratulations on the great gig :-)
Sounds fantastic! Can't wait to read your liner notes, Bob may have finally met his match!
I’m SO ready for this release and I look forward to reading your notes. 27 discs of ‘74 Bob & the Band was too tasty to pass up.
